The Top 5 Best Pubs in Teignmouth
Our guests here at Cottages South West often ask us the extremely important question, ‘What are the best pubs in Teignmouth?’. So we have put together our top five best pubs in Teignmouth to answer their burning and truly vital request!
Ship Inn
Anyone who knows the Ship Inn knows it is undoubtedly one of the best pubs in Teignmouth. This is due to its fabulous location, set on Teignmouth’s ‘Back Beach’ and facing up the River Teign, you can sip your ice cold beverage and enjoy watching all the river boating activities. If you are happy to stay until dusk, then this is the perfect spot to watch incredible sunsets over Dartmoor in the distance. You will often find people scattered on the fishing quay just outside, dangling their feet off the wall and happily watching the world go by. If the weather is feeling a little off do not fear, there is inside seating with friendly staff and a warm English pub feel.

The Blue Anchor
If you enjoy a boogie, then the Blue Anchor has got to be on your list of pubs in Teignmouth. They advertise their bands at least a month or so in advance so you can ensure you don’t miss any of the great talent. With a large busy pub garden and cosy inside it’s a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. You're guaranteed to meet friendly faces and have a good time here! During high season they open up an outside bar too, so wait times are less and you can get back to your spot!

The Ferry Boat Inn
Yes, we are breaking the rules with this one when listing it as one of the best pubs in Teignmouth, as it requires catching a five-minute ferry across the river mouth, but trust us it’s worth the journey! Just a skimming stone from Teignmouth is The Ferry Boat Inn, our utmost favourite in the summer due to its awesome river/beachside pub garden. The kids can play on the beach within earshot, whilst you enjoy a beer (and burger in the high season) in one of the most gorgeous locations. The Pub often has live music on a Friday evening and Sunday daytime and showcases great local talent. Known as the FBI to the locals, the pub carries the catchphrase ‘I only popped in for one’.
